Spyder touches the 150cr mark in 11 days

A.R. Murugadoss’ spy-thriller Spyder, which stars Mahesh Babu and Rakul Preet in leading roles, has crossed the 150 crore mark worldwide, in just 11 days of its release.

The film opened with a humongous collection of Rs 51 crore (Day 1) across the world, kicking off a good run at the box office. Spyder was Mahesh Babu’s first straight Tamil film and it received a warm welcome in Chennai.

Mahesh Babu’s performance in the thriller is also being hailed as one of his best. Cutting-edge action sequences seem to have added to the film’s international appeal, as it maintains its tenacity at the box office overseas.

The actor who is fluent with the language has also dubbed for himself. The bilingual has received an overwhelming response both in Tamil-speaking states and overseas, goosing its collections at an unbelievable Rs. 150 crores. Spyder had also grossed good numbers at the US box office, crossing the USD 1.5 million mark recently.

The film has been one of the biggest films of this year, Revolving around the story of an Intelligence Bureau Officer on the hunt for a psychotic criminal, Spyder makes for a fast-paced, entertaining watch.

Meanwhile, Mahesh will start shooting for his next, Bharat Ane Nenu later this month. The movie marks the Telugu debut of Bollywood actor Kiara Advani. Apart from that, Mahesh has also signed another project with Vamsi Paidipally which will go on floors later this year.
